Fun at Home Depot

7 Feb

Sarah & Ethan at Home Depot Kids' Clinic

So I’ve been told by some friends that Home Depot offers a “Kids’ Clinic” on the first Saturday of each month—totally free of cost. So this past Saturday I took the two olders and met up with some other dads to have some fun.

This month it was a simple but cute heart shaped shelf/hanger. Oh yeah and if missed it on Facebook, Ethan got a mohawk haircut.

El Día de los Reyes—The Day of the Kings

5 Jan

"The Feast of the Epiphany" (c. 1639-1640) - Workshop of Jacob Jordaens posted by flickr user telemax

The Day of the Kings, also know as Epiphany (January 6th)…

…is a Christian feast day that celebrates the revelation of God the Son as a human being in Jesus Christ. On this feast, Western Christians commemorate principally the visitation of the Biblical Magi to the Baby Jesus.—Wikipedia (Jan. 7, 2011)

In celebration of the Incarnation of Jesus Christ many children (mostly in Latin America, Spain, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Portugal) put their shoes or boxes under their beds or tree anticipation of receiving gifts such as trinkets, treats, and/or money from the Three Kings.

And maybe this year we’ll put out our shoes.

Though there are many customs associated with this day one of them we do is take down the last of the greenery and nativity scenes put up at Christmas.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year Everyone! 2011 should be an awesome and adventurous year.

We’ve got a few things planned for the year but nothing is set in stone other then the birth of our new baby in late June or early July.

Matthew is hoping to get his photography business ramped up as well as get one or two of his website ideas launched—but it all depends on if he’s able to continue to freelancing or if he has to get a job (please pray that God will meet our financial needs). He’s also hoping to finish the sprinkler system and get some sod laid in the front and back yard as well as maybe a few more veggie beds planted and the front of the house flower beds completed. Lastly, he’s planning on re-reading the bible in it’s entirety again—this time in chronological order. And of course he would like to workout more.

Lisa is hoping to get through the rest of Sarah and Ethan’s homeschool lessons and get Noah potty trained before the new baby arrives. She’s also looking forward to the Homeschool conference in June and reading a novel.

Sarah & Ethan are still trying to get their heads wrapped around this concept. The best thing they could come up with was picking up after their play time. As parents we’re not completely satisfied with this proposal since it’s already a requirement in the Moore household. However, what really blew their minds was when we told them it had to be done everyday for a full year with a happy heart. We’ll see how this turns out.

Isabelle wants to learn how to ride a bike.

Noah just wants to have fun (of course that was said in mumbly two-year old talk).

Lastly, as a family we hope that we’ll be able to go camping once or twice this year. Nonetheless we will get some hiking and fishing in.

Christmas Was A Success

31 Dec

Kids Opening Their Christmas Presents

Though this year has been extremely hard for us, Christmas day turned out to be pretty darn good here at the Moore household. The kids loved everything they received and there wasn’t one complaint or teeny-weeny moment of jealousy. A huge thanks goes out to our friends and church family who reached out to our family and just loved on us.

Above is a picture of the kids opening one of Noah’s presents with excitement. We were just overwhelmed by the love and joy amongst our children for each other—a wonderful blessing.

Nonetheless we were reminded of how great we are to know and be known by a gracious, loving, and justly God. The same God who sent His only Son to live amongst us to feel our pain, anguish, and sorrow but to also blanket us with his Love so that we could be saved—and one day live for eternity in peace with Him.

Merry Christmas To All

2010 Christmas Card for the Moore Family

Merry Christmas everyone.

Well 2010 is coming to a close and Christmas is now only days way. We haven’t had much time to post anything lately (actually more like the last six months) but we thought we would get things going again by sharing our “official” Christmas Card—photos and art done by Matthew himself.

May His Light Shine Upon You, God Bless.  The Moores.

New Site

1 Dec

Hey Everyone,

We’ve finally got our family site back up—this time running on a better system. Before it was just to clunky and difficult to manage let alone easy enough for the both of us to use it.

So we’ve re-launched it with a new system and a new design and we’re working real hard on getting some of our best content put together. Expect more photos and videos soon. In the mean time drop us a line and tell us how you’re doing.

Cheers,

The Moores
